Pope Goes the Weasels

The church has selected a new Pope. He has a dubious nazi past. While it is true that Israel has sent forth positive vibes and that it is very possible as he asserts that he was forced into the nazi youth group, there is something else that rubs me the wrong way.

Had his past been checkered by any other despised group (i.e. KKK) I am fully confident that he would never been considered at all. This is even if he were exonerated because of the ugly image it may project. The issue at hand therefore should not be the popes actions rather it should be the ability of the world to swallow a man with a nazi past.

thanks dude.

My point is simply that we as Jews should be aware that Public image is not concerned with a nazi bastard. the world doesn't care and the vatican knows this. Had the pope been a smoker they would have thought twice. The fact that he was on the same team as the genocide machine - hey that's not so bad etc.

I think, maybe, that the pope will now have to be a tiny bit nicer to Israel because of the skeletons in his closet (no pun intended). At least that is my hope.

Although the skeletons in his closet would cause him to lean towards being nicer to Jews if the Isralei and Jewish plight were any factor. Recent history of global anti-semitism anti Israelism is indicative of a world that would not force the Pope to be any nicer. In fact, it would be more difficult to be nicer to this unpopular group.
